Derwen College receives match-funded donation from Combined Services Lodge

A presentation to the Derwen in high summer brought great pleasure to the staff photographed here with W. Bro. Peter Cherrington, Worshipful Master of the Combined Services Lodge 9988.

It goes without offering our sincere gratitude to the members who supported a request for £1,250.   It would also be wrong of me not to mention our Charity Steward, the mean, not-so-lean fighting machine, W. Bro Richard Webster, a man on a mission.

I am sure you will have noticed I said £1250 but as I feel so strongly about this Charity and the work they do I agreed to match the figure, thus £2500 was presented to them.

It is hoped to assist many of the young people who enter for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and as they have to pay out of pocket £40 for the application form, we are happy to assist in some small way.
